The Delivery Man

It’s Friday and we thought we would break from the norm and have a little fun.  There’s a new movie that is currently being developed from a foreign version and after watching the original version, we are pretty excited to see the Hollywood version. The movie deals with topics of anonymous sperm donors and parenting and it’s absolutely hilarious. Below is a quick synopsis of the original film as well as a link to the trailer.

Director Ken Scott is bringing his version of Canadian comedy Starbuck, to the big screen. The English version of the film, entitled The Delivery Man, is being produced by Steven Spielberg and Dreamworks Pictures. Vince Vaughn has been cast as the lead. The original movie is about a man named David who made several donations to a sperm bank when a young adult. Flash forward 20 years and the man is now working for his family’s butcher shop as a delivery man while being pursued by “thugs” who he owes a lot of money to. His girlfriend is pregnant with his child but does not feel he is mature enough to be a father.

One day he returns from work to find a lawyer from the sperm bank who tells him he had fathered 533 children over a period of two years. 142 of them have joined a class action lawsuit to have the fertility clinic reveal the identity of “Starbuck”, the alias he had used. David consults his friend and lawyer who represents him trying to keep the records sealed. He hands David an envelope with bios of each of parties to the lawsuit. David eventually opens the envelope and attempts to see each one, acting as a guardian angel. David decides to come out and identify himself, but after the thugs assault his father, he agrees with his lawyer to sue the sperm bank for damages. He wins the lawsuit, keeping his identity a secret and being awarded $200,000.
